After 2 very good seasons this one will be deemed to have been a big disappointment for the 1st team. Rarely being outplayed, the odd goal, a lack of consistency and the inability to keep the same players week in week out was a huge disappointment for the club.

In general the squad of players which should have been available was good enough to have done very well this season, but it was not to be despite an excellent performance in the Kenyon Cup final which was a reflection of just what this side could really do.

Overall a great sense of frustration and disappointment has run through this campaign, however the club still moves on and next season will bring an even greater challenge. The Manchester League will differ in many ways to the L&C. Firstly it will have a far more competitive edge, there will be many more hotly contested local derby’s but most of all a more professional approach will be needed.

A great deal of hard work will be done off the pitch to get the facilities up to a much higher standard and to acquire the squad capable of making an impact in the Manchester League. The one main advantage of playing in the MFL will be that the club will attract players who have experience of the league and wish to remain in it, this plus retaining some of the best crop of current players and a very promising bunch of youth team players means the future is very bright for Standians.

From the start of pre-season there will certainly be a different approach to how we go about training and in preparation for matches and we hope that all players and staff will rise to what lies ahead. The club will be choosing a squad for the season and that squad will be committed to playing in every game of the season and putting 100% into playing and training.

Over the summer we will keep everyone informed of what’s going on and will be in touch regarding pre-season.

We will be getting a new and improved website over the summer so keep checking back while the Standians revolution begins!!!
